Delos is a Cycladic island of the Aegean Sea. In antiquity it was particularly famous as the birthplace of god Apollo. Delos was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1990.
Delos is a small island of the Cyclades, west of Mykonos. In antiquity it was especially famous as the birthplace of god Apollo, hence the name of Delion and hence a great religious center that evolved in a similar way to a commercial one. The inhabitant of Delos is called Delion, or Dilius. Today, the island of Delos is administratively governed by the Municipality of Mykonos. According to the 2011 census, its population is 24 inhabitants, which are mainly the staff of the archaeological site and the archaeological museum of Delos. The island also has a small port on its western side, which serves tourist boats that bring visitors to the archaeological site.
